Hammer Film Productions are a film production company who are based in the UK. Hammer Film Productions were founded in 1934, the company is best known for a series of Gothic "Hammer Horror" films made from the 1950s-1970s. As well as horrors, Hammer film production also known for producing science fiction, thrillers, film noir and comedies. As well as these in the later years of their productions they also created TV series. During Hammer Film Productions most successful years, they dominated the horror film market, enjoying worldwide distribution and considerable financial success. This success was due to the distribution partnerships with s Warner Bros and other major film production companies. Hammer Film productions produced horror films such as The Curse of Frankenstein (1957), Dracula (1958), The Mummy (1959), The Curse of the Werewolf (1961), The Phantom of the Opera (1962) and The Plague of the Zombies (1966).
